Free Data Removal:
All functioning hard
drives are erased, overwritten with junk data to insure previously
stored data is unrecoverable, then formatted. Please see our Data Security page
for details on data removal/destruction.
Charitable Donation
Preparation Service:
A $30 service fee
covers data removal and basic hardware testing to ensure your system is
suitable for donation to any charity you choose. For our part,
we'll reload an operating system on the cleaned drive, at no additional
charge, should you provide a software license for the system at the
time of collection. Prepared systems can then be collected from
us by your charity. Contact your charity for details on tax
credit eligibility.
Physical
Destruction Service:
A $20 service fee
covers the physical destruction of your hard drive. Destroyed
drive platters can be returned at your request, and the shells will be
recycled as scrap aluminum.
Your rights:
You have the right to
data confidentiality; all data stored on your hardware will be
destroyed. You have the right to confirm services rendered, as
follows:

pre-arrange to have destroyed hard platters returned for your
inspection.

Any systems
prepared for charitable donations must be documented by your
charity.
Our rights:
Computer Salvage
Service pays operating expenses through the resale of salvaged
components. This is why we have an age restriction on computer
systems and accept only working monitors. We have the right to
deny collection of any hardware which does not meet these criteria, or
any equipment intentionally rendered unsalvageable.
